“Accept my hand, and give share of your land, or I will be forced to enforce my demand” said he, who beneath his hideous mask, watched her intensely.
With frown, she met his eyes of brown, “Tis not my land to which I can give share, cannot your request be more fair?”
His mouth of grin, fell down and pulled thin, “Defiant Lizard Queen! One more time will I ask thee. Do not refuse me twice, for I will not make this offer thrice!”.
Kneeling before her to take her hand, was her loyal but withering, second-in-command.
“Your majesty,” he addressed her gently, “be not intimidated nor fooled; for you are the last true sovereign of this Kingdom your great father built and ruled. We, your humble people, who indeed hail you as both our Queen and King; beseech you to consider the suffering his people will surely bring”.
“Fear not my most trusted friend, for I will not be the one to bring my families reign to an end”.
The Queen then silently requested for him to reclaim his place beside her, so that she could face her former lover.
“For the sake of my people, I must decline. This crown can only befit one head, and that rightful head is mine”.
With the flick of his hand, did the Goblin King give his silent command. And from thin air, did his demonic army appear. The Queen watched on in despair, as the goblin swarms began to stomp on her beloved subject's frantic forms.
“You bring this violence upon yourself with your defiance. Yield to me now, and I will allow those that survives to keep their wretched lives. Only I can put a stop to this, in this you are helpless” did the King insist.
With no discouragement from their master, the goblins carried on cheerfully with their slaughter. And as they popped her subjects as easily as balloons, they laughed their ugly heads off like superfluous sadistic loons.
“Receive my offer and become my bride, and we shall rule together, side by my side. Or a lonely palace will you soon reside” he reckoned, as he gripped the neck of her injured second.
With the slightest nod of her reluctant head, was the Goblin King's promise at once said. The Goblins instantly stilled, grinning at the mass they had killed.
“You all laugh at this senseless madness, and dare to expect my hand after causing so much sadness” wept the Lizard Queen as she looked upon the outcome of the bloody scene. She went to aid her second in command, who pressed what it was she needed subtly in her hand.
“My majestic beloved, you will forgive this day. Rejoice, for I shall in return, bestow upon you the title of Queen consort of the fae”, did the Goblin King proudly declare as he met her emerald eyes in stare.
“No word have I given yet, but I promise ye this, and to all those who can hear; never will this day be forgotten, nor will your betrayal ever be forgiven, my dear”.
“You must remember that I can be just as kind as I can be cruel. And in time you will agree that no other King is better for your kingdom then I to rule” the Goblin King said as he held high his crowned head.
“Then cometh to me, grand husband to be,” insisted she, “and let a kiss seal thy alliance with thee”.
Admiring her ethereal face, he came forth to her to collect her in a lover's embrace. But before his familiar lips against hers came to press, did she do what she knew was best. His dark eyes looked down in surprise at the dagger she had embedded into his chest.
“I have been betrayed!” he cried, futilely grasping at the hilt of the blade.
But no help could come from his Goblin subjects, for they had exploded into black dust and flecks.
“How could you this!” did he painfully hiss.
Lowering her lips to the Goblin King's ear, she gently spoke the last words he would hear, “I am the Lizard Queen. I am the Lizard King. And I can do anything...”.
